The Gulf of Kvarner is a renowned destination within the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It comprises several different spatial units: the Opatija Riviera, the city Rijeka with the Rijeka Ring and the Crikvenica – Vinodol Riviera, the islands of Krk , Rab, Cres and Lošinj, and the mountain district of Gorski Kotar. Thanks primarily to the unique combination of the coast, islands and mountains, Kvarner’s slogan is Diversity is Beautiful.
With the combination of an excellent geographical position and a mild Mediterranean climate, this is a privileged area where the most diverse influences have been intertwined for centuries, and today Kvarner is a modern, attractive tourist destination, a region of aromas and flavours, a destination of health, fine food, wine and top gastronomy, rich natural and cultural heritage – a holiday destination for all generations.
Promotion of tourism products of the Kvarner Region with a goal to continuously improve the tourist offer and service, and to promote the economic interests of legal and natural persons catering to Kvarner tourists and visitors.
The special attention of the Kvarner Region Tourist Board is focused on the tourism product with the greatest comparative advantage, that is, the health tourism.
Kvarner is the region with the longest tourist tradition in Croatia, a region of exceptional diversity and a unique combination of the coastline, islands and mountains, which is therefore promoted under the slogan Diversity is Beautiful. Kvarner is also the place where the organized development of tourism began on the Opatija Riviera 170 years ago through health tourism. Back in the 19th century, the combination of mild climate, sea, luxuriant vegetation and hilly hinterland attracted the attention of rest and health-seeking Europeans.
In this sense the Kvarner Health & Wellbeing Project through which the Kvarner Region is profiled on the international tourist market as a region of health with a long tradition and the overall offer of various medical institutions, that is, the Kvarner health tourism is promoted. As part of the project, the Kvarner Region Tourist Board gathered representatives of medical institutions and clinics with an impact on tourism.
The activity of the Kvarner Region Tourist Board is characterized by the following activities:
• Strategic planning and development
• Management of the tourism system and the quality of the tourist offer in the destination of Kvarner
• Information and research
• Marketing of the destination (public relations, appearances at tourist fairs and presentations, PR activities on the most important broadcasting tourist markets, advertising and joint advertising campaigns, organization and co-organization of study trips for journalists and agents)

Kvarner Family – branding project for apartments and holiday homes of private renters in the Kvarner Gulf;
Kvarner Family Sub-Brands Agency, Pet Friendly, Bike Friendly and Hike friendly;
Kvarner Gourmet & Kvarner Food – branding project of catering facilities offering Kvarner cuisine;
Kvarner Wines – branding project of original Kvarner wines and sparkling wines (result of long-term cooperation with wine producers in the Kvarner Gulf and joint promotion of Kvarner wines through the promotion of gastronomy);
Kvarner Health & Wellbeing – health tourism branding project in the Kvarner Gulf (establishment of the Kvarner Health Tourism Cluster);
Kvarner Outdoor – branding project of the Kvarner Gulf as a destination for active holidays (walking and cycling segment)
