The TEAM project, supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, has made significant progress with the release of the Executive Summary for Work Package 2 (WP2) on Telemedicine Education and Industry Partnership Mapping. This milestone offers crucial insights into the state of telemedicine education and industry collaboration across five participating countries: Croatia, Greece, Romania, Slovenia, and Ukraine, alongside an overview of the EU.

Key Findings:

  1. Telemedicine Education Gaps: The report identified gaps in telemedicine education and training, particularly in digital literacy, highlighting the need for improved healthcare training to integrate telemedicine into daily practice.

  2. Skills and Infrastructure Challenges: A significant skills gap, especially in rural and underserved regions, was noted, along with the need for greater investment in digital infrastructure to ensure equitable access to telemedicine services.

  3. Legislative Barriers: Regulatory frameworks for telemedicine vary widely, posing challenges in areas such as licensing, reimbursement, and data privacy. Harmonization of these regulations is necessary for the sector’s sustainable growth.

  4. Industry Partnerships: The report stresses the importance of stronger collaboration between educational institutions and industry, essential for aligning telemedicine training programs with market needs.

Looking Ahead:

The findings from WP2 will guide the development of training materials and digital tools as the TEAM project transitions to its next phase. This step reaffirms the project’s commitment to advancing digital health and preparing healthcare professionals to meet Europe’s telemedicine needs.
