The Crikvenica International Health Tourism (CIHT) Conference was held for the first time in Thalassotherapia Crikvenica in 2013 on the occasion of celebrating the 125th anniversary of tourism in Crikvenica. Two years later, the Cluster joined the Crikvenica Tourist Board and Thalassotherapia Crikvenica in the organization, and in 2015 the CIHT Conference received the status of an international conference.

This two-day event brings together eminent local and foreign lecturers and participants from the fields of tourism, health and business with the aim of getting to know new trends in health tourism.

The Conference consists of lectures and thematic workshops. In addition, participants are taken to tours of health institutions in the Kvarner Region in order to acquaint themselves more closely with the health offer of our county. The Conference has an academic part too, where selected scientific papers and researches are presented.

The Conference sees its role in contributing to the practical application of current theoretical knowledge, findings and trends and emphasizing the strategic importance of the development of health tourism in Croatia. This development is based both on favourable natural and climatic conditions and a respectable and long-standing health infrastructure.

The Conference is attended by more than 150 national and foreign experts in the field of health tourism, most of them occupying management positions within renowned health tourism institutions. The Conference also uses the online channel, thus broadening its reach to interested participants.

Speakers and participants at previously held conferences came from all over the world, including countries such as the USA, Great Britain, Poland, Germany, UAE, Ukraine, China, Slovenia, France, Slovakia, Hungary, Malaysia and Greece.

The 11th CIHT Conference will take place on October 26th and 27th, 2023.
