Emergency medicine institute of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is a health facility that provides non-hospital-based urgent care, performs emergency healthcare measures for suddenly ill and/or injured people at the scene of the accident, ensures their urgent transportation to an appropriate health facility and their healthcare during transportation. The Centre opened on 1 November 2011.
Emergency medicine institute has branch offices in 10 locations. Apart from Rijeka, where its headquarters are situated, the Centre operates in the following locations: Crikvenica, Opatija, Rab, Krk, Mali Lošinj, Cres, Delnice, Vrbovsko, and Čabar (Prezid).
Since 8 July 2015, Emergency medicine institute has held the ISO 9001:2008 certificate, an international standard for establishing quality management systems. Emergency medicine institute is a university hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka and the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka.
